What is Naturalization?

Naturalization is the process by which U.S. citizenship is granted to a foreign citizen or national after he or she fulfills the requirements established by Congress in the Immigration and Nationality Act.

 

Who may apply Naturalization?

  • Applicant has been a permanent resident for at least 5 years and meet all other eligibility requirement.

  • Applicant has been a permanent resident for 3 years or more and meet all eligibility requirements to file as a spouse of a U.S. citizen.

  • Applicant has qualifying service in the U.S. armed forces and meet all other eligibility requirements.

  • U.S. citizen’s unwedded minor child, who was born outside the U.S., is currently residing outside the U.S., and all other eligibility requirements are met.

What is the Naturalization processing time?

According to USCIS website, the processing time will be about 7.5 months to 19.5 months. This time range is how long it is taking USCIS to process a case from the date they received it.

 

What are the application fees? (subject to change)

  • Biometric Fee: $85

  • Form N-400 application fee: $640
